Leiden or Leyden, city in the western Netherlands, in Zuid-Holland (South Holland) Province, on the Old Rhine River, near The Hague. Leiden is also the site of the State University of Leiden, one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in Europe. It was the birthplace of several important Dutch painters, including Rembrandt, Jan van Goyen, and Jan Steen. During the 17th century the English settlers who became known as the Pilgrims took refuge in Leiden before leaving for North America.

Bandelier National Monument lies in northern New Mexico near Los Alamos, protecting a rugged landscape of canyons, volcanic cliffs, mesas, and forested slopes. The monument is especially known for its ancestral Pueblo dwellings carved into soft volcanic tuff, including rooms, cavates, and ceremonial structures that remain visible along the canyon walls. Frijoles Canyon forms the main visitor area, with trails leading through archaeological sites and wooded terrain.

Armação dos Búzios, or Búzios, a small peninsula just a few hours from Rio de Janeiro, is known for its striking coastline, relaxed atmosphere, and vibrant cultural scene. Once a quiet fishing village, it rose to international attention in the 1960s when French actress Brigitte Bardot visited and fell in love with its laid-back lifestyle. The region is famous for its more than 20 beaches, each with its own personality.

Situated at the foot of Mont Collon, the small village of Arolla is a popular starting point for summer mountain hikes as well as a common stop on the Chamonix-Zermatt Haute Route expeditions. In the winter, it's a small ski resort with five lifts and guaranteed snow thanks to the elevation.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve lies off the southern coast of Ambergris Caye, near San Pedro in northern Belize. The protected area covers coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangroves, and channels that form part of the Belize Barrier Reef. Its name comes from the Maya words for “little channel,” referring to a natural break in the reef that allows water to move between the Caribbean Sea and the shallow lagoon.
