León, central Mexico, in Guanajuato State, in a fertile river valley, at an altitude of about 6000 ft. León is the industrial, commercial, and transportation center for a rich agricultural region and is a shoe-manufacturing center. Founded in 1576, León was a Spanish colonial administrative center.

Alta is a town in northern Norway located at the head of Altafjord in Finnmark County, well above the Arctic Circle. The area is known for its combination of coastal landscapes, birch forests, mountain plateaus, and Arctic climate.

Durban is a big subtropical city in the north-eastern province of KwaZulu/Natal. It has been a major port since the 1850s and is home to the largest concentration of Indian-descended people in the country - Mohandas Gandhi arrived here as an indentured labourer in 1893. Today the city is better known as a holiday-makers' fun parlour with a happening nightlife.

Rundu is the capital of Namibia’s Kavango East Region and a major town on the southern bank of the Kavango River, opposite Angola. Unlike much of Namibia’s dry interior, the area around Rundu is shaped by a permanent river, wooded floodplains, and fertile land used for small-scale agriculture.

The town of Eldoret is located in western Kenya, eastern Africa, on the Uasin Gishu Plateau west of the Great Rift Valley. Situated at an elevation of 6,857 feet (2,090 m) above sea level, its healthful climate attracted many European settlers during the colonial period. It serves an agricultural area; chief crops are corn (maize), wheat, and pyrethum.
