Höfn is a small fishing town in southeastern Iceland, located on a narrow peninsula surrounded by the waters of Hornafjörður and nearby lagoons. Iskanderkul is a mountain lake in western Tajikistan, set in the Fann Mountains of the Sughd Region. The lake occupies a deep basin surrounded by steep, rocky slopes and high peaks, with sparse vegetation covering much of the surrounding terrain. Its waters are fed by mountain streams and drain through the Iskanderdarya River. The lake is named after Alexander the Great, who is associated with several legends connected to the area.

Kolsai Lakes National Park is a protected mountain area in southeastern Kazakhstan, located in the northern Tian Shan east of Almaty. The park is centered on a chain of alpine lakes surrounded by steep forested slopes, rocky peaks, and mountain valleys. The three Kolsai Lakes occupy different elevations along the Kolsai River, with the landscape changing from coniferous forest at lower levels to alpine terrain higher in the mountains.
