Vieques Island is found in the northeastern Caribbean, roughly 8 miles east of the Puerto Rican mainland. Its beaches are commonly acknowledged as some of the Caribbean's best. The Bioluminescent Bay is especially alluring given the undeveloped nature of the island.

The capital, 450-year-old Asuncion ("Mother of Cities") merits a visit of unhurried nights - that way, you'll have time to sit in the main square and people-watch. The shopping in this grand city of 729,000 is the finest the country offers, and the cathedral and archaeological museum are both highlights. The governmental architecture is interesting; don't miss the Congressional Palace, Customs House and Government Palace (in the style of the Louvre).

Santa Cruz is in stark contrast to La Paz. Climate is tropical and altitude is only 1,250 feet. It is on the eastern lowland side of the Andes mountain range and one of the gateways to Bolivia's jungle area. Trinidad is the other. Much of Bolivia's natural resources, including agricultural products, are found in this area. The town of Eldoret is located in western Kenya, eastern Africa, on the Uasin Gishu Plateau west of the Great Rift Valley. Situated at an elevation of 6,857 feet (2,090 m) above sea level, its healthful climate attracted many European settlers during the colonial period. It serves an agricultural area; chief crops are corn (maize), wheat, and pyrethum.
