Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park lies west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, extending for about 161 kilometres along the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges. The park is known for red quartzite ridges, steep-sided gorges, dry riverbeds, and permanent waterholes that provide important refuges for plants and animals. Its landscapes are part of a much older geological setting shaped by erosion and changing climates.

Zomba is a city in southern Malawi situated at the foot of the Zomba Plateau, a large mountain massif rising above the surrounding Shire Highlands. Visit the Coos Art Museum; fish for chinook and coho salmon in the Coos River or the ocean; take a drive out to Golden and Silver Falls State Park.

Bakkagerði is a small village in Borgarfjörður Eystri on Iceland’s remote east coast, surrounded by steep mountains, narrow valleys, and the North Atlantic. The village serves as the main settlement and service center for the fjord, with a small harbor and colorful houses scattered beneath the surrounding peaks. Its isolated location gives Bakkagerði a strong connection to the landscape and to traditional rural life.

The Catskill Mountains are a mountainous region in southeastern New York, forming part of the larger Appalachian landscape.
