Laikipia Plateau is a highland region in central Kenya, lying between Mount Kenya and the northern Kenyan lowlands. Its broad grasslands, acacia woodland, rocky valleys, and volcanic soils create a varied landscape shaped by seasonal rainfall and altitude. Rather than being a single protected park, Laikipia is a mosaic of private conservancies, community lands, ranches, and farms.

Capital of Martinique, a French overseas territory, Fort-de-France is a veritable island paradise replete with striking colonial architecture, exotic flora and fauna, verdant nature parks, and sparkling beaches. Highlights of this vibrant island capital include the colorful Jardin de Balata, the cascading Fontaine Didier waterfall, and the expansive Schoelcher Library.

Padre Island is a long barrier island along the Texas Gulf Coast, extending beside the Gulf of Mexico from the Corpus Christi area toward the southern tip of Texas. Much of the island consists of broad beaches, coastal dunes, grasslands, tidal flats, and shallow lagoons. The northern section is closely associated with Corpus Christi, while South Padre Island is a developed resort community farther south.

The turnoff for Locarno is located near Bellinzona, the capital of Ticino. By train, Locarno is well served from Zurich and Milan, as it is by road. Lovers of beautiful landscapes starting out from Geneva and Lausanne owe it to themselves to pass through Simplon and the Centovalli by taking the picturesque little train that links Domodossola to Locarno.
