Pinhão, nestled in the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, is a small town with a big reputation for its world-renowned port wine and stunning landscapes. Brasília may be a World Heritage Site, but it is only of interest to town planning and architecture students, and those keen to witness the folly of man on a metropolitan scale. It must have looked good on paper, and still looks good in photos, but in the flesh, forget it. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, urban planner Lucio Costa, and landscape architect Burle Marx, the city was built in an incredible three years between 1957 and 1960.

Or leave the city to venutre to the White City of Arequipa, the Incan capital of Cuzco and Machu Picchu and the ancient Inca city in the clouds.

Key Largo, the northernmost of the Florida Keys, is renowned for its pristine natural beauty and vibrant marine life. As part of the Florida Keys archipelago, Key Largo is a gateway to the spectacular underwater world of the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the U.S. Here, visitors can explore vibrant coral reefs through snorkeling and scuba diving, or take a glass-bottom boat tour to marvel at the colorful marine ecosystems without getting wet.
