Important both historically and economically, the beachside city of La Serena is one of Chile's oldest post-Columbian cities. The region's silver, copper and agriculture were so important that the city had its own mint. Today, La Serena maintains a colonial air, although it is threatening Viña del Mar's supremacy as premier beach resort. Apart from a string of beautiful beaches, attractions include a handful of museums and a number of nearby quaint villages and vineyards.

The Samwari Private Reserve is formed at the conjunction of five eco-systems, supporting a wide range of flora and fauna including the recently reintroduced "Big Five".

Elmina is a coastal town in southern Ghana, located along the Gulf of Guinea in the Central Region. The town is closely tied to the Atlantic fishing industry, with large numbers of brightly painted wooden canoes lining the shoreline each morning.

Hanalei is located on the North central coast of Kauai Island. Near the head of Hanalei Bay, the village is in scenic and fertile Hanalei or Hanohano Valley, one of the states few rice producing regions.
