Djúpavík is a tiny settlement on the shore of Reykjarfjörður in the remote Strandir region of Iceland’s Westfjords. Its identity is closely tied to the abandoned herring-processing complex that dominates the settlement.

Uvita is a small coastal community in southern Costa Rica's Puntarenas Province, located along the Pacific coast on the Osa Peninsula region. The town is surrounded by tropical forest, rivers, mangroves, farms, and beaches, with the forested mountains of the coastal range rising inland.

Lewiston and Clarkston are located at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers at an elevation of 738 feet above sea level. The valley is rather narrow with a range of hills to the North sloping abruptly to about 2,000 feet above the valley floor.
