Cape Winelands is a wine-producing region in South Africa’s Western Cape, centered on towns such as Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl. Stellenbosch is known for its historic town centre and concentration of wine estates, while Franschhoek has a strong connection to French Huguenot heritage.
Aci Trezza is a small fishing village on Sicily’s eastern coast, just north of Catania, overlooking the Ionian Sea along the Riviera dei Ciclopi. Its waterfront is defined by dark basalt rocks, small fishing boats, and the Faraglioni dei Ciclopi, a group of sea stacks rising offshore. The rocks were formed by ancient volcanic activity connected with the geological history of Mount Etna.
Tokushima is the capital of Tokushima Prefecture on the eastern side of Shikoku, where several rivers meet the sea and mountains rise beyond the urban area. The city is closely identified with Awa Odori, a traditional dance that fills streets with performers and musicians during its annual festival. Tokushima also serves as a useful base for exploring the wider prefecture, including the Naruto Strait, the Iya Valley, and sections of the Shikoku pilgrimage.
Kolmanskop is an abandoned diamond-mining settlement in the Namib Desert, a short distance inland from the coastal town of Lüderitz in southern Namibia. The former settlement is surrounded by an exceptionally dry landscape of sand, gravel, and sparse desert vegetation. Today, windblown sand fills many of its empty buildings, creating a distinctive scene where rooms, corridors, and staircases are gradually being reclaimed by the desert.
