Todgha Gorge is a dramatic limestone canyon in Morocco’s eastern High Atlas Mountains, close to the oasis town of Tinghir. The Todgha River has cut a deep passage through the mountains, leaving towering rock walls that rise to around 300 meters in places. At its narrowest, the gorge contracts to roughly 10 meters across, creating a striking corridor of stone and sky.
Stretching 277 miles in length and more than a mile deep, this vast canyon reveals layers of geologic time stacked like pages in a book. Standing on the South Rim, visitors can look out over colorful cliffs and winding trails that have drawn explorers, artists, and travelers for generations. The views change with the light starting with crimson at sunrise, golden at sunset, and every hue in between.
Kansas City, Kansas offers more than meets the eye. Located at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, this city blends its industrial roots with surprising pockets of creativity, flavor, and local pride. Food plays a big role in the city’s identity, and no trip is complete without sampling its barbecue. While its Missouri neighbor may get more attention, Kansas City holds its own with iconic joints like Slap’s BBQ, a local favorite known for brisket that draws lines out the door.
Abilene is no-nonsense and traditional, but it's just as capable of having a good time as any rip-roaring cowpoke. When you're in Abilene, take time to see the Abilene Zoo, particularly the Texas Plains exhibit, a unique collection of species native to that part of the country (if you've never seen a javelina, here's your chance).
