Tonga is distinctly different to its neighboring island nations. This Polynesian kingdom, made up of 170 islands, carries a proud history that dates back over 3,000 years. On the main island of Tongatapu, travelers can explore ancient stone structures like the Haʻamonga ʻa Maui Trilithon—sometimes called the Stonehenge of the Pacific. Royal tombs in Lapaha offer a glimpse into the lineage of Tonga’s kings, while village life remains guided by customs that have changed little over centuries.

Puerto Ayora is the largest town in the Galápagos Islands of Ecuador and is located on the southern coast of Santa Cruz Island. The town serves as a central base for travel throughout the archipelago, with ports, research centers, hotels, and tour operators concentrated around Academy Bay.

This National Park is located 35km south of Fort Portal and is home to monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, bushbuck, elephants, birds and many varieties of butterflies. A four wheel drive is recommended.

Located about twenty-five miles southwest of Rapid City, South Dakota, lies Mount Rushmore. Following Highway 244 from the west leads to the orientation center. There exhibits tell how sculptor Gutzon Borglum carved away twice the rock needed to construct Egypt's Great Sphinx (which isn't even as tall as Washington's nose).

Espiritu Santo, one of the largest islands of Vanuatu off the east coast of Australia, is a popular destination for divers. Famous Champagne Beach, as one might guess from the name, offers crystal clear waters and powdery white sands, while the western side of the island is dotted with caves to explore and reefs team with marine life just offshore.
