Even though Linköping has developed into an industrial center and is Sweden's fifth-largest city, it maintains a small-town atmosphere. Old Linköping is the restored town center with preserved buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Broken Hill is a mining town which is also very popular amongst Australian artists. The town is known as ‘Silver City’ and still mines for Silver, lead and zinc today. However there is only one mine that is still open today. When you get here be prepared to change your watches.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, which includes the Grotto of Massabielle, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and the underground Basilica of St. Pius X, draws millions each year.
