Amantani is an island in Lake Titicaca, Peru, known for its high-altitude landscapes, agricultural terraces, and Quechua-speaking communities. Located in the lake’s Peruvian waters, the island is home to small settlements spread across hillsides that rise above the water. Unlike larger lakeside destinations, Amantani has few paved roads and no major commercial center, so daily life remains closely connected to farming, weaving, and community activities.

Abu Simbel, in southern Egypt near the border with Sudan, is one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites of the ancient world. Built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BCE, the twin temples were carved directly into the sandstone cliffs overlooking the Nile. Santa Cruz is in stark contrast to La Paz. Climate is tropical and altitude is only 1,250 feet.
