Saguaro National Park
Just outside of Tucson lies Saguaro National Park, which is home to hundreds of saguaro cacti, the iconic symbol of the old West. There are endless scenic hikes and wildlife habitats, and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum isn't to be missed. The star of the park, of course, are the cacti themselves, and there are few more beautiful sights than seeing them silhouetted against the beauty of a magnificent desert sunset.
Sao Tome Island
São Tomé Island, the larger of the two islands in São Tomé & Príncipe, offers travelers a balance of culture, history, and dramatic natural scenery. Its capital, São Tomé city, is a coastal hub filled with colonial architecture, lively markets, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Altiplano
The Bolivian Altiplano is a vast high plateau in the Andes, stretching across much of western Bolivia between the country’s major mountain ranges. Its high elevation creates a cool, dry environment with broad open plains, rugged peaks, volcanoes, and sparse grasslands. La Paz and El Alto occupy the northern part of the plateau, while Oruro, Uyuni, and Potosí are among its other important settlements.
Stromboli
Stromboli is a small volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, just off the north coast of Sicily. Referred to by some as the "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean," Stromboli is in a constant state of mild volcanic activity, so don't venture out on a hike without an experienced guide.
Munnar
Munnar, located in the Western Ghats of Kerala, India, sits at around 1,600 meters above sea level and was once the summer resort of British colonial officers. Today, it’s known for its vast tea plantations, many of which date back to the 19th century. Visitors can walk through estates like Kolukkumalai, the highest tea plantation in the world, where traditional methods are still used to process leaves by hand.
