Gir National Park
Gir National Park is a protected forest in Gujarat, western India, and the most important natural habitat of the Asiatic lion. The park forms part of the larger Gir Protected Area, a dry landscape of deciduous woodland, thorn scrub, grasslands, rocky hills, and seasonal streams. The forest is also home to leopards, chital, sambar, nilgai, wild boar, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. Ely
Ely, Minnesota, sits on the edge of the Superior National Forest in the state’s Northwoods, where boreal forest, rocky terrain, and interconnected lakes define the landscape. The community is best known as a major gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which contains more than one million acres of protected forest and waterways along the Canadian border. Although not accessible by road, it is Peru's most important commerical center in the east. It is on the Amazon which is wide enough to allow freighters at their busy port. The 1880's saw the rubber boom and recently oil has been the boom.
Sa Dec
A lesser-known river port in the Mekong Delta, Sa Dec was once the capital of Dong Thap province of southern Vietnam. Today, it is best known for its flower gardens and authentic bustling market. The city is also famous as the setting for French writer Marguerite Duras' 1984 novel, The Lover, and its 1991 film adaptation of the same name.
