King Island was discovered in 1798, and was a preferred breeding area for sea elephants and seals. Around the island are many shipwrecks, caused by the rough seas of the Bass Strait.
On Greenland’s west coast, Ilulissat (once known as Jakobshavn) welcomes travelers with astonishing ice scenery and a sense of scale that feels almost otherworldly. The town sits beside Disko Bay, where immense icebergs drift silently past, glowing pink and gold in the Arctic light. The name “Ilulissat” means “icebergs,” and it could not be more fitting. Here, every turn toward the sea offers a fresh view of towering ice forms, each one sculpted by nature into something fleeting and beautiful.
Albion, a small coastal town on the west coast of Mauritius, is known for its peaceful atmosphere and scenic setting by the Indian Ocean. Unlike some of the island’s more crowded resort areas, Albion offers a quieter escape while still showcasing the natural beauty that makes Mauritius a favorite destination.
Kittilä is a municipality in Finnish Lapland, extending across a broad area of forests, rivers, wetlands, and open fells north of the Arctic Circle. The municipal center lies along the Ounasjoki River, while smaller villages and settlements are scattered through the surrounding wilderness. Kittilä is closely associated with Levi, one of Finland’s best-known fell resorts, but the municipality extends well beyond the resort area into quieter rural landscapes.

Doubtful Fjord (Doubtful Sound) is a large fjord in southwestern New Zealand, in the same region as the smaller but better known Milford Sound. It is home to an unusually large population of bottlenose dolphins, as well as a variety of birds, fur seals, penguins, and often even humpback whales.
Unlike Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound is inaccessible by road, so boat cruises are the only transportation available to visitors. Day trips operate out of the small nearby town, Manapouri.
