Kuranda is a pretty town set amongst the glorious mountains of the Atherton Tablelands, and famous for its wonderful markets. There is spectacular rainforest surrounding the town, with various walking tracks.

Siglufjörður is Iceland’s northernmost mainland town, set at the head of a narrow fjord on the mountainous Trollaskagi Peninsula. San Pedro de Atacama, a small town in northern Chile, sits at over 2,400 meters above sea level in one of the most geologically diverse areas on Earth. Surrounded by volcanoes, salt flats, geysers, and ancient lava flows, it has long served as a gateway to the Atacama Desert. This desert is the driest non-polar place in the world, where some weather stations have never recorded rainfall.

Payette National Forest covers a large area of west-central Idaho, extending across the rugged Salmon River Mountains and the western side of the state’s central mountain country. The forest includes alpine ridges, deep river valleys, conifer forests, meadows, and high mountain lakes.
