Matagalpa is a mountain city in northern Nicaragua, surrounded by forested hills and agricultural land. Known as one of the country's principal coffee-growing areas, it sits in a cool, elevated landscape where coffee plantations, pine forests, and cloud forest environments are common.

Xunantunich is a Maya archaeological site in Belize’s Cayo District, located across the Mopan River from the village of San Jose Succotz. The site occupies a limestone ridge overlooking the surrounding countryside and contains six plazas with more than 25 temples and palaces.
