Roses is a coastal town in Catalonia’s Alt Empordà, positioned at the eastern edge of the Iberian Peninsula where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. Its broad bay opens toward the Cap de Creus peninsula, giving the town a landscape of beaches, rocky headlands, and low coastal hills. Roses has a strong maritime identity, with a fishing port operating alongside a marina and a long seafront promenade.

Roussillon is a hilltop village in the Luberon of southeastern France, surrounded by some of the region’s richest ochre deposits. Its houses, walls, and narrow streets are colored by the same natural pigments found in the surrounding earth, ranging from pale yellow to deep red. The village stands within the Luberon Regional Natural Park, where wooded hills and agricultural land meet the ochre landscape.

Chetumal is the capital of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located near the border with Belize on the western side of Chetumal Bay. Unlike the large resort centers farther north on the Caribbean coast, the city functions primarily as a government, commercial, and cultural center.

Staniel Cay is a small island in the Exuma Cays of The Bahamas, surrounded by clear shallow waters, coral reefs, sandy beaches, and numerous nearby cays. The island covers less than two square miles and has a small Bahamian village on its western shore. Its position makes it a useful base for exploring the surrounding Exumas by boat, while a local airstrip provides another way to reach the island.

Murghab is a remote mountain town in eastern Tajikistan, located in the high-altitude Pamirs of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. It sits within a broad, dry landscape of gravel plains, mountain ranges, and sparse alpine vegetation, where trees are largely absent. Murghab is an important stopping point on the Pamir Highway, connecting eastern and western parts of the Pamirs and continuing toward Kyrgyzstan.
